Culture isn’t what’s written on the wall - it’s what happens in the everyday moments that matter. At The Culture Kit, we work with organisations to shape cultures that feel authentic, energise people, and deliver lasting business impact.

Wales & West Utilities (WWU) is a gas distribution business serving over 7.5 million customers across Wales and the South West of England.
Operating in a highly regulated, safety-critical sector, the business faced a unique set of challenges - including a largely remote, dispersed workforce of 1,600 colleagues, a legacy of multiple company iterations and rebrands, and a shift from operational monopoly to a customer-facing, community-centred organisation.
Following new ownership and changes in the regulatory environment, WWU recognised the need to create a clear, engaging, and future-fit culture — one that would align their people around a shared purpose, support outstanding safety performance, and deliver value for the customers and communities they serve.
The starting point? Culture.
To develop a compelling company purpose, values, and behaviours framework that could:
Deep Listening & Research
We began with a comprehensive discovery process — gathering insight through colleague conversations, leadership interviews, and cultural diagnostics to deeply understand the existing culture, challenges, and opportunities.
Company-Wide Co-Creation
A culture built for people, by people. We involved employees at every stage — from defining values to shaping the behaviours and purpose narrative — ensuring authenticity, relevance, and ownership.
Leadership Development Programme
To bring the new culture to life, we designed and delivered a targeted programme for leaders and managers, equipping them with the tools and confidence to model, embed, and lead cultural change.
A large, complex organisation with a highly dispersed leadership team needed to improve alignment, collaboration, and collective performance. With diverse working styles, legacy team dynamics, and increasing delivery demands, there was a clear need to create clarity, strengthen relationships, and build a unified leadership culture.
To unify a geographically and operationally dispersed leadership team by:
Discovery & Insight: We began with a diagnostic of team dynamics and leadership behaviours to understand current challenges, working preferences, and areas of friction.
Leadership & Team Behaviours Development: Using behavioural profiling tools and interactive workshops, we helped leaders better understand themselves and each other, creating a shared language for working together effectively.
Scaling the Impact: To extend this work beyond the leadership team, we delivered a Directorate-wide workshop for 160 colleagues, embedding key behavioural insights and ways of working across the wider function.
Sustained Impact: A 12-month activation and check-in plan kept momentum alive, supporting leaders to consistently apply new habits, strengthen alignment, and evolve the culture together.
Director, National Infrastructure Business
A large Operations Directorate, with a mix of legacy practices and new leadership, recognised the need to create a culture of psychological safety - where colleagues felt empowered to speak openly, challenge constructively, and work in ways that reflected modern leadership values.
To build a culture where:
Co-Creation of a Team Behavioural Framework
Through workshops and colleague conversations, we co-designed a set of practical, meaningful behaviours that reflected what ‘good’ looked like for this function.
Leadership Development Programme
We equipped leaders at every level with the skills, confidence, and tools to lead with empathy, clarity, and accountability - embedding psychological safety as a leadership priority.
Communications Masterclass Training
To ensure these behaviours translated into everyday conversations, we delivered training to help leaders run better one-to-ones, give effective feedback, and create open, safe spaces for their teams.
